In Bangkok, American professional golfer Dustin Johnson secured the individual title in the LIV Series with a 16th-place finish at the latest tournament. After this achievement, Johnson receives $18m (£16.2m) prize money.
Johnson has a 42-point lead over Branden Grace going into the final tournament of the Saudi-backed series, and because of that, he also made his place in Thailand.
The player who wins the tournament gets 40 points, which means Grace cannot overtake Johnson at the top of the standings. If Grace finishes in second place, he will win $8m, and the player who finishes in third place will get $4m.
Johnson said about his achievement that locking up the individual competition is big, and It’s an honor to be LIV’s first individual season champion.
The LIV season tournament will end in Miami at the end of October, with 12 teams competing for a $50m prize.
The players who compete in the LIV tournament series have been banned from the PGA Tour, and the LIV tournament does not count toward the world rankings. Last season in the PGA tour, Johnson earned $5m in prize money.
The LIV series tournament has made a rift between its players and those players who have chosen to stay loyal to the PGA Tour.
